The renovation of this original 1960s apartment on the Burleigh Esplanade was an emotional journey for the owner, who spent many a childhood in the same apartment block when growing up. The brief was for it to be “refreshed” without over-capitalising on renovations. The feel of the apartment was to represent the lazy days of a Queensland summer – simple and fresh.
The client had made the choice of the bathroom joinery unit from Zuster, and we built the aesthetic from there, governed by the existing floor tiles in the apartment. We gutted the bathroom and powder room with new floor, wall tiles and all fixtures. In the kitchen, we simply replaced the sink and tapware and added a new splashback and timber floating shelves. All the furniture, fixtures and fittings for both indoors and outdoor are new.
